The UNDONE x Simple Union Sometsuke is a gorgeous mechanical watch with a cracked porcelain inspired dial. With this watch UNDONE is exploring the Japanese ideology, specifically the idea of (Kintsugi). Kintsugi is the art of mending broken porcelain with gold, reinforcing the idea that it is the scars of trial and hardship that render life even more precious. Through the Kintsugi crack you will see a gold skeleton Japanese NH71 movement. The California Dial has been reinterpreted with Kanji, teaching the three marks of existence, impermanence, suffering and absence of self nature. This watch pays tribute to the Japanese ideology of impermanence and imperfection (Wabi-Sabi) in collaboration with renowned antique Katazome fabric craft house Simple Union. Simple Union has provided the strap which uses repurposed Katazome fabric, originally produced about 150 years ago in Japan.
The 37mm case makes this watch very comfortable on all wrists, even the smaller ones. It also features sapphire crystal to protect the watch on your daily adventures. The dial design is complimented by the blue indices and hands.
The UNDONE x Simple Union Sometsuke is limited to 300 pieces worldwide, each watch is numbered on the caseback.
